Delmar Elementary does it again!
We met the MD proficiency standard for Attendance for last week (9/29/25-10/03/25) with 94.61%
Overall, 3rd Grade led the clowder of Bobcats with 95.86%

The class with the greatest improvement from last week was Mr. McCain's 3rd grade class; they jumped from 83.64% to 96.19%! Great job!

The class that brings in the MOST candy 🍬🍭🍫 (by weight) will win a movie 📽️ and a treat! The winning class will be announced on Friday 10/24.
Bags of candy can be sent in your child's bookbag. Please label them with your child's name and teacher.
Ms. Meyer, our Community Schools Coordinator will collect them and record the weight!
Candy is accepted through Monday, October 20th!

Note for Wednesday, Oct. 1: Term 1 mid-term progress reports will come out Oct. 1 for students in grades 1-12. Be sure to review the progress report with the student to celebrate successes and set goals at the midpoint of the marking term.

Wicomico County Public Schools and the Wicomico County Board of Education extend their condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former Superintendent of Schools William T. "Bill" Middleton III. Mr. Middleton served the school system for 40 years and continued to serve his community and public education long after his retirement.
Originally hired as a member of the summer paint crew and then as a teacher, Mr. Middleton held a number of positions with the school system, retiring after serving as Superintendent of Schools from 1995 to 2002. He was also a renowned auctioneer, and for many years hosted Travelogue presentations.

Scenes from a celebration: Check out the joy today as all of Wicomico High School packed the auditorium to celebrate WiHi ESOL teacher and 2025-2026 Wicomico Teacher of the Year Emma Cohn Matthews for being one of seven finalists for Maryland Teacher of the Year! Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer and Principal Dr. Undrea Blake were delighted to have the WiHi band, cheerleaders, and all students and staff join in the celebration.
Mrs. Cohn Matthews will have her state panel interview soon. The Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala will be held Sept. 26, ending with the announcement of one of the finalists as the next Maryland Teacher of the Year. Good luck, Mrs. Cohn Matthews! You're an excellent representative of your school and school system, and of all Wicomico teachers.
